Hot lavender, mints, savory, marjoram;
The marigold, that goes to bed wi' th' sun,
And with him rises weeping; these are flow'rs
Of middle summer, and I think they are given
To men of middle age.

I am particularly taken with this humble harvest of hidcote lavender as it is the first harvest of two small bushes I began from seeds a couple springs ago.
Beautiful! I love lavender. I had a beautiful bush in my old house and to leave it behind. It was huge and gave me 40-50 stalks of lavender a year. This is the first year my new bush has given me any at all. What are you going to do with it?

I love lavender, too Joy. I'm trying to collect different varieties but since there is only one available in Jordan, I was motivated to try starting this hidcote from seeds. I was sort of surprised I was successful! I also brought what I think is a french lavender from Israel. It isn't as fragrant but it blooms almost year round. As for the hidcote, I think I'll just enjoy looking at it for a while and then add it to my wool to keep the moths away.
ReplyDeleteI love lavender! Yours is so pretty. I'm jealous that you have lavender that blooms all year!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful.
